Employment Services
The Employment Program assists women and men in their goal to obtain employment and training through individualized
employment counseling. All services are offered in English and Spanish. Services are free and there is onsite childcare.
Clients identify their skills and employment objectives with the help of a counselor through the use of the following
employment program services:
- One-on one employment counseling
- Resume writing
- Assistance with cover letters and job applications
- Mock interviews
- Current job announcements
- Networking support groups
- Individual instruction on using the internet to search for employment
- Referrals to other community agencies (when appropriate)
Our services are targeted to meet the needs of displaced homemakers, women who have been homemakers for many years and find themselves needing to re-enter the workforce and earn an income because of the death, disability, divorce from a spouse, or loss of public assistance.
Individual Case Management
Employment program clients often need personal skill development to assist them in overcoming barriers that deter them from accessing training and employment. Employment counselors work with clients to build their self-esteem and help clients develop career plans. On-going contact is maintained with clients following program completion for up to 12 months.
Support Groups
Networking support groups in English and Spanish meet weekly at The Women's Center to encourage those seeking employment to meet with others in similar circumstances, as well as learn a host of personal, job, and work readiness skills to successfully obtain and retain employment. Guest speakers are invited to discuss personal and professional development and provide networking opportunities.
If you are an employer with a job posting, please send to the attention of the Employment Program at mail@twcwaukesha.org or fax to 262-522-3882.
