Any type of sexual activity that you not want or
agree to.
-
It can be verbal, visual, or audio.

It ranges from inappropriate touching to penetration
or intercourse.
-
It includes rape, attempted rape, child molestation,
voyeurism, exhibitionism, incest, and sexual harassment.
How can I prevent sexual assault?
- Be alert and aware of your surroundings.
- Never leave a social event with someone you have just met.
- Avoid walking alone and be wary of isolated spots.
- Create a safety plan so you know what you would do in the event of
an attack.
How do I handle a sexual assaulter?
-
Try to escape, scream, and make noise to discourage
your attacker from following you.
-
Talk, stall for time, and assess your options.
-
If the attacker has a weapon you may have no choice
but to submit. Do what it takes to stay alive.
-
If you decide to fight back, be quick and determined.
Target the eyes, throat, and knees.
What do I do if I am assaulted?
-
Get away from the attacker and to a safe place as
fast as you can.
-
Call a friend, family member, crisis center or hotline.
Do not feel ashamed or guilty. These feelings are normal but it is
not your fault!
-
Do not wash, comb, or clean any part of your body
or your clothes.
-
Go to the nearest hospital emergency room as soon
as possible. You need to be examined, treated for injuries, and screened
for possible sexually transmitted diseases or pregnancy. The doctor
will also collect evidence that the attacker may have left behind.
