All programs and services are free of charge.

Sister House Shelter
Sister House shelter provides safe, short-term housing and support to women and their children who are in imminent danger of domestic abuse. Sister House is located in The Women's Center's main building at 505 North East Avenue. New residents arrive at Sister House shelter after a phone screening process has taken place. Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault and Abuse Counseling
Women and children survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault or abuse can participate in short-term individual or group counseling. Free, onsite childcare is available during counseling sessions. Transitional Living
Safe, affordable housing and support services are provided to women and their children while they make the transition from an abusive environment to independent living. The Women's Center operates four homes for large families and five apartments for single women and women with one or two children. Legal Advocacy
Legal advocates help victims of abuse or harassment file temporary restraining orders and injunctions and also offer support to victims at court hearings. Legal advocates are located at both The Women's Center and the Waukesha County Courthouse. Community Education
The Women's Center's community educator speaks to small and large groups in the community about domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse. The focus and type of presentation given are determined by both the participating group and the community educator. To arrange for a presentation, contact The Women's Center at 262-547-4600.

24-Hour Crisis Line
Staff at The Women's Center answer questions and offer support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To speak with someone, call 262-542-3828 or toll free at 1-888-542-3828.

Employment Counseling
Workshops and counseling are available to help men and women obtain or retain employment. Clients identify their skills and employment objectives with the help of an employment counselor. Family Support Project
The Family Support Project offers a variety of services designed to teach families positive ways to deal with stress, manage behavior, and communicate effectively. Support groups for Parents of Young Children and Grandparents Parenting Again meet weekly. Short-term family counseling is also available. Parenting classes address an array of issues and ages and can last from 2 to 8 weeks. Please call ahead for a class schedule. Emergency Respite and Onsite Childcare
Respite childcare provides parents and caregivers a break during stressful times or emergencies by using licensed daycare centers and foster-care homes.
